Happy Holidays to one and all!
Since the holiday I celebrate is Christmas, and it falls
oddly this year, I am going to mix my #MusicMonday along with my where am I
weekend, in a holiday spirited post.
You see, for many years now, since I was old enough to do it
without making a total mess, I have been the designated wrapper. As in, the
first kid to show up, and need something to do for a while, and my aunts always
have that last minute gift, or the gifts for the other side of the family for
Christmas day. We’re Polish, so we celebrate on Christmas Eve. So most of my
start to the day was wrapping gifts in the room so no one would see, and that
is how this elf thing started. After all, isn’t that what elves do, make Santa
look good and prepared? In my 30’s now, not only do I know who the Santa of the
family is, but I frequently offer up the elf duties. This year I am heading up
a day early, aka Christmas Eve eve, to help get things done. The #ChristmasChallenge
this year is how to wrap a bike that is already put together and hide it in
plain sight from a snooping 13 year old boy. Because it is no secret he is
getting one (we asked what he wanted, Santa and the Elf aren’t THAT good
anymore at guessing boy wants, we’re older women who have never had boys
ourselves) and he’s planning on coming up early, so I know exactly what that
means. I was young once, and remember poking under the tree, checking the gifts
with my name on them and gauging what it might be. Let’s be honest, a bike is
hard to hide, even when it is a surprise… So that is my challenge, and my
reason for going up early, and the reason I will not be posting per the
schedule. If you all are really good, maybe this Chief Elf Officer (CEO 😉 ) can swing a little story
after this holiday, so you can see my writing in action.
Until then, I want to share the Top 5 songs that help put me
in the mood, or at least prep me for more holiday music. I own nothing, only
the joy of a good, sometimes offbeat song, and the list is in no particular
order either. The number 1 song I have to hear each year is really rather
specific to me, and any others who love a good Tweety bird song. Happy Holidays
to everyone and enjoy!
