Mushy Music Monday

It’s still February, days away from a time I am fondly (and sometimes not so fondly) reminded of… the days when I used to work at a florist shop!

Raise your hand, or like and comment, if you’ve ever had to be a part of setting up that party/wedding what have you, in the middle of the cold snowing icy storm that sane people stay indoors during?

SO many times, I can’t even remember the count. I do remember the MVP of this… my own mother. In all of the deliveries we used to do, all the setups… there was never quite a story like this one ice covered Valentine adjacent wedding.

(Beautiful right? Heavy though… and one must always be careful too. Common vase type of thing for these parties…)

If memory serves, we were all going to dress the church, needing both hands to carry these cumbersome bubble bowls, or other expensive, not very common vases. In the middle of what was a very snowy and cold Feb. Black ice all over, even the church steps were terrible, so your body tried to lean on the railing to balance itself, while your hands were in charge of protecting the piece you carried. Most of us made it up the stairs, trying to get in the doorway. Then we turn around; find my mom face down on the stairs, flowers above her head, much like one finds the more aggressively fun wedding party members when they are the victor of the bouquet toss later on.

Of course, we carefully rush over to help her, not wanting to join her in the untimely need for a break and relieve her of the vase while helping her up. My mom is one of those lucky troopers. Her hat had saved her face, but the frame of her glasses broke, and she hobbled off with only skinned knees. Thank God, of all the crazy situations we put ourselves in, all we ever did was spectacular falls, skinned knees, accidental scrapes and slices, and a whole lot of terrifying but survivable things. (Anyone who has hit that patch of ice on a curvy hill knows exactly what I mean there…) So yeah, my mom picked herself up, taped her glasses together with floral tape, and cleaned up. Luckily that was one of those events where we changed in the church, so she only ruined a pair of jeans, not the dress she had to wear. The super trooper was even still able to videotape the wedding with the camcorder (yes, I *am* dating myself… might have been 14/15 at the time.)

This Music Monday post will reflect a few of songs I like hearing this time of year, the kind that kept a person calm or warm, depending on the mindset. A good smooth song can do many a thing…

As always my shout out to all the hard working people that have the rights to these songs.

Elvis Presley- It’s Now Or Never

Million Faces- Paolo Nutini

Angel Eyes- The Jeff Healey Band

George Harrison And Bob Dylan If Not For You Rehearsal

I’ll Make Love To You- Boyz To Men

Keep an eye out for my special Valentine’s Day post!
