If you haven’t been reading lately, I went on a quick weekend sort of vacation.
My aunt and I drove around Connecticut, and wow… I might be sharing pictures for the whole week!
In the 3 days we were there, we looped the entire state:
Started in Cheshire with Barker Character, Comic, and Cartoon Museum, which made us feel like kids again thru all the toys and nostalgia.
Then we toured Mark Twain’s home and got a great snack at Milkcraft. This is a red velvet bubble cone, halfway devoured before *someone* thought to take a picture. My aunt’s salted caramel bubble cone was already long gone…

We stopped at the Elizabeth Park Rose Garden, and Traveler’s Resturant; which you might have seen the bags of books from there, as the free book with the meal wasn’t enough for us lol.
Friday was all about more books, ice cream, candy, pizza, oh and the ocean too. We spent hours in Niantic, visiting all 4 Book Barn locations, after breakfast at Gumdrops & Lollipops. Went back there for an ice cream break, before heading off for Mystic! We loved the Seaport museum, so much to see and do! Of course, we had to have some Mystic Pizza for dinner, before stopping for the night and digging into our book haul, which you might have seen as well if you follow along on this blog. But this book filled day made me miss my Twitter writer friends… The Sci-Fi fans who would have been amazed at the bookstores’ room of books, the pirate and mermaid writer that I thought of constantly while near the sea, even the witch writer, who came to mind in some of the old houses and stories told in these areas. Didn’t think I would miss you all while away, but I did.
Saturday was all about little stops on the way home. East Rock Park to see the city overview, and get a walk in. An ice cream place around the Yale campus, before the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library opened, which was stunning! Again we felt like kids at the PEZ visitor’s center, where we learned PEZ actually started in Austria in the 1920/30′s! Lockwood-Matthews Mansion was a nice little tour, and history packed, besides being the home used in the original Stepford Wives movie. And our last stop in Connecticut was a fish church… First Presbyterian.

But it is lovely to be home. So, a quick playlist for being home, like I did for traveling.

Of course, that takes us to…
