Music Monday Optimism

Hello to all my new followers. Welcome and thank you so much!

First up, I have updates, because I’ve been a busy birdy again…

New Twitter banner! Yes, it announces basically everything I’ve gotten into this year. Amazing, realizing that NaNoWriMo is coming up again, and it was the 2017 event that started this journey with you all. Without that month of change, I would not be here, blogging or other Social Media efforts with you. More about that for my 1 year anniversary…

But so far in 2018, I’ve finished a book, edited 2 of them, even pitched one! And I started a Patreon too. So OF COURSE, I will be doing NaNo 2018. Red Letters themed too.

The other business I have on my plate is a professional editors evaluation of my querying book. Because, you know, you need such information as well, and I had only sent out a query on a lark, to get the rejection stress out of the way. I was NOT expecting a full request the first time out… So that jumbled my order up a bit… But the editor sent me her thoughts, I have a writing game plan, I’ve made notes (up on the Patreon page if interested in that behind the scenes spoiler) but this is Music Monday so I won’t continue spoiling the work ahead…

Instead, I  think its time for another Motivational playlist!

(Note- I never claim to own the music content, just a fan, giving you new ways of thinking/listening to amazing creators.)

First up is how I felt about the advice/notes from my editor, but it can apply to any helpful advice in our lives, even if this song was not exactly meant for it. After all, we’re writers and readers! Reading between the lines is just what we do, right?

Just What I Needed- The Cars (aka my editor’s theme song or ringtone in my head)

Next up is a mix of things really. As always, songs and lyrics have different meanings to people, and while it may have meant something different… well, this song feels like a call to action and a sort of description of one of my characters. Can you guess who?

Also, it’s just fun thinking “With a rebel yell she cry more more more (content!)“ because my funky brain totally works like that.

Rebel Yell- Billy Idol

Oh, but what of that sense of fear and anxiety that you know is going to creep in once the work gets tougher you ask? This feels perfect in the “figuring it out as I go“ way. Know that you are afraid, but do not let it get to the point that it controls you. Use it, don’t lose it. Reach out to others as needed, but you got this. -Me to me in a few months, if needed.

Drive- Incubus

Now we come to a double motivator, at least in my writer mind… The chorus is a simple reminder to not give up on something you love, even if you aren’t exactly in love at the moment… The rest of the lyrics? Well, that’s sort of how my WIP and I feel about each other. I think my writing life would love it if I did not have a day job, and everyone has those “I really don’t feel like it“ days. But I’ve put over 8 years in this WIP for a reason, and darn it, I will find the will to love it again with open arms. For now, we relearn each other and the scheduling of time to be together, because a writer date night is just as important. Though I think most people just call it “writing time.“ *shrugs* Each their own…

Never Give Up On A Good Thing- George Benson

And finally… A reminder to turn the negatives into positive, to keep looking up to the best parts, in case when I get there some day… You know, take the bull by the horns? It helps that this song totally brings out Bebe, and triggers all the mechanical bull stuff, so at least there’s that to go off of…

The Bull- Kip Moore
