Before I hit my playlists, random fun fact? Before Tweety was Tweety, she had many draft names. One of them was Red, hence the Red Letters series. One of them was Sweety. Just didn’t do what it needed to when the drafts became solid.

Anyway, today’s scene? Readers and the newbie character alike are about to see sweet miss Tweety do something new. It’s not out of character, exactly. Then again, our only narrator in this series so far has been the woman herself. So if she didn’t show us this, or downplayed it, and no other characters made it on the record? It’s going to seem out of the blue, but also seem like something she’s capable of.

I mean, who hasn’t pranked a friend by floating them in the pool while they were asleep?

There are plenty of warnings about falling asleep in the bar anyway, and Tweety? Not one, but two men, our triangle from the last few posts, have made her be too polite and overwhelmed. So she needs a release. A prank war with a consenting pal? Time for a little fun.

Pour Some Sugar On Me – Def Leppard

It’s a scene where the wild isn’t just from putting someone in a pool to make their wake up wet. There’s more to it. Some sugary sweet elements.

But what is the chapter title for this? Def Leppard is a Woods song, so that doesn’t fit here. But it is very on the nose for what’s happening. We can do better.

Sadly, my music brain doesn’t hear one without this other. Though it’s a good song, it fits something in a scene with cherries specifically, not just blanket sugar. Literally and physically.

Cherry Pie – Warrant

So, if the loud sweets references aren’t hitting the mark, should I go subtext? Maybe pick a song by Cake to out the mindset of the accomplice?

Love You Madly – Cake

No, a title like that isn’t telling enough about the chapter itself. What about this one? It’s close, but… it’s still a maybe. Plus, it’s not really selling the chapter to a new reader or spectator. Both of these are more from the character in the scene side.

Sex And Candy – Marcy Playground

Closest one I can find that the title nods to what’s going on without being too blunt? This one. Hints at the elements of the scene in title alone. Lyrics? a bit darker than I would have picked, but some of them hit the concerns in the characters involved. Said without spoilers of course. Sometimes it takes putting posts together for you guys for things to unlock and settle into my brain. A no on first listen sits like an ear worm and helps shape the chapter’s subtext. And that’s sometimes how decisions happen. Other times it’s instantly obvious.

Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down – Fall Out Boy

This chapter? It’s told by Tweety herself, so I do like a female voice if it’s the lady chapter if I can, but also? Sometimes it’s about how others view you. Other times? It’s about how you see yourself.

Sweet But Psycho – Ava Max

Bonus point? There’s a lyric in the song’s chorus that hints at who Tweety is in a prank war with. And yes, she has stolen something like that from him before. Might even remember it from the first book… But, this song is after the date of the story so it’s not exactly in the usable realm…
