A New Year For Music Mondays

This is the last Music Monday of 2025, so of course we’re treating new years like it’s another week long party. But it’s also a chance to tell the hopeful story of the next year too, because I like writing slow burn romances and they take a minute to get from meet cute to mine.

First you have to start with the question. sometimes it’s for a coffee or dinner, but for New Years Eve? You gotta lock down your midnight kiss early enough. Long term couples have that in the bag, but those on the dating scene have to transition that mistletoe moment into a new year new relationship chance. You gotta see if you still have that shot to make the new year something special with someone special. So, dear reader, what are you doing new years’ eve?

What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? – Ella Fitzgerald

When you finally get that relationship? And another new year comes around? You reflect on what makes you a couple. What you love about that person and the renewed wish that it lasts another year. That’s definitely worth going out and celebrating together.

Another Year – Finneas

And what about those existing couples who have been together awhile? New year can mean a re-commitment to each other. Resolution promises to each other that you can keep to strengthen the relationship. Because sometimes real life is hard on a couple, and a little bit of fun now and again can keep it alive.

But what if it didn’t? If your winter romance didn’t get to last forever?Life took you in other directions, and that new year song about making new friend but keeping the old applies. On the bright side, if Soulful was a read bar, not a book bar, you’d always find it open for that awkward catch up drink..

Same Old Lang Syne – Dan Fogelberg

Maybe it’s just a new year you commit to yourself and some changes to your life. You wake up feeling funky and full of something that resembles nerve or courage and make some plans to make things better for yourself and those around you. Because that feels more like my speed this year…
