Not only are these songs hard to fit on other lists, they talk about the type of Red Letters characters who stopped caring about fitting in for many reasons. Called misfits because they don’t “fit”, doesn’t make that who they are. Sometimes it’s how you grew up, other times it’s what you learned from school, and sometimes? You just know you are different and that doesn’t bother you at all. You beat to the sound of your own drummer and are a champion without a sport.
First up, we have the snazzy dressers like top hat and cane Nira, or our flannel friend later in the series. That judged by clothes feeling, but with that springy beat that doesn’t make it feel sad.A reminder that if you make it, you wear whatever you want, and feel how you wanna feel…
Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson Bruno Mars
How about when you have that backstory, but it doesn’t get you down. Because it’s all right now, and you’ve got your own stable story too. It might be eccentric, but you’re good, solid, and happy with what you do now.
Jumpin’ Jack Flash – The Rolling Stones
But that happiness? It’s not the best description for everyone. Some of the misfits come from a place of shattered dreams or illusions and their part in this story can be just the growth of finding the way back from this bad thing messed me up and made me feel less than.
The Kids Aren’t Alright – The Offspring
This one is definitely for the Soulful ladies, the ones who are too much to handle for anyone, but there’s still someone who says yes, you’re a freak, but I got it, and I’m going to protect it, so keep being a beautiful one. After all, the girls aren’t called the Trouble Lasses because they are angels. They stand out. Not always for entertaining reasons, or that entertaining reason is why it’s so hard for them to blend in.
Beautiful Freak – Eels
No matter what the misfit song story your favorite character used from this list, they all fit this last song. Just for surviving, as a group, for not giving up. In a way, this song feels very fitting for the series overall. Part fight song, part recap on their shared history, it does a lot of work for a planned 5 book series in one song.
We Are The Champions – Queen
