The Misfit Arc of Thoughtful Thursday

I have a discussion topic for us this week. Yes, we are talking misfits and mayhem, but why is that so memorable? Is it because the misfit has a different past, that makes them have a journey we could take alongside them? Or is it because the misfit refuses to conform to fit in, and won’t apologize for it? Or is it something you leave in my comments, like memorable moves (Breakfast club ending fist?) or quotable lines (anyone remember Steve Urkel and the “Did I do that?”)

What are your thoughts? Because, the journey one feels like a growth thing, expanding our take on the humans around us. And the refusal to apologize feels like it’s reassuring or confidence building for those of us who are different. That you can do things and want things that are not for everyone else, as long as you are strong enough to bear that weight. Because, either way, it’s harder being different. Unique can be lonely, and a misfit gets misunderstood, especially if they look scary to the normal person.
