Thoughtful Thursday Celebrations

If you’ve followed here long, you know my birthday is in July, so it’s often felt like a month of celebrations. This year, I turn 40, just got signed for a full time job to start in August, am getting a new skill, and its feeling joyous and chaotic all in one. So I wanted to talk about celebrations today.

Do you celebrate every little win, every little step on the path to the goal? Or does it only have to be the goal to celebrate? What’s your reason to celebrate today?

On the author front, I am still writing, though for the job reasons it hit a little delay and doesn’t feel like a writing session so much as a cram session and that will soon be fixed, it’s just a minor setback more. And I write about big parties and events in the Red Letters series, so dedicating a month to the celebrations in the books feels fitting, because they are starting to feel like it’s a character on it’s own. That stuff that you wouldn’t do in the normal day, but in a vacation mode or party mode that you don’t always talk about the next day, at least if it goes wrong.

So, I celebrate little things, and big things in small ways (sometimes getting an ice cream is a great celebration move) and once in a while I celebrate by looking back and seeing how different I am now. Because yes, the little moments are great and keep me going to the big goals (like that full time 10 years in the making…) but it also shows me the path I’ve been on overall.10 years ago I wasn’t telling people I was a writer with work out there. I’ve only been social media writing myself for the last 7 years give or take, and while it’s not perfect, I have a year of Fiction Fridays in this month. From no one knowing I write to a website built for being a writer? Doesn’t feel like a big thing because it’s been many small steps, but it is a huge thing overall. So thank you for being with me, and being patience with me in this crazy time of changes.
